Students and staff attending Bow Valley College (BVC) will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 effective October 22, 2021.

In a statement released on September 10, BVC Media Relations Officer, Shannon van Leenen states that they will require all students and employees attending all campuses to be fully vaccinated against the virus for the safety of the college community.

She says "After careful consideration, overwhelming feedback, and scientific evidence that strongly supports the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, we have decided that vaccinations are essential in keeping our college community safe and healthy."

The letter goes on to say that all students and employees are required to have two doses of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccinations and the second dose must be administered at least two weeks before October 22. Students and employees will also need to upload their proof of vaccination through an online tool.

For now, any student or employee that chooses not to vaccinate will be subject to weekly rapid testing but this option will no longer be available after October 22. Exemptions to the vaccination requirements will only be made for medical reasons or other protected grounds under the Alberta Human Rights Act.

The college is advising international students who are in need of a Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccine to contact Health Link at 811.

Bow Valley College is currently closed to the general public will be suspending all events until at least November 1, 2021.
