COVID-19 vaccine appointments are now open for Alberta children between the ages of six months and five years.

As of Tuesday, August 2, 2022, parents and guardians can book appointments for a child's first shot of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Health Minister Jason Copping says, “We are pleased to now offer a vaccine for families with children under the age of five. Parents are in the best position to decide whether the vaccination is right for their children, and we are providing them with the information they need to help them make that choice.”

The COVID vaccine will be administered at Alberta Health Service clinics around the province.

First dose appointments can be booked through the Alberta Vaccine Booking System or by calling Health Link at 811.

Children under the age of five who live on a First Nations Reserve can access vaccination through nursing stations or public health clinics on reserve.

It is recommended that children between six months and 11 years receive two primary doses with an interval of at least eight weeks between the first and second dose.

There are over 234,000 Albertans between the ages of six months and five years who are now eligible for the COVId-19 vaccine.
