The Senior Crush baseball team remains at the top of the District 3 standings after 10 games with only a couple left to play in the regular schedule.

The Crush have only lost one game to spoil their perfect record so far in the regular season and have an eye on trying to capture the league pennant.

At home on May 23, they took a healthy 8-0 lead early in the game and head coach Paul Vaillancourt says they used that buffer to continue to prepare for the playoffs.

"When we have a lead, we try to develop players and we make some substitutions and put some guys in positions where we want them to improve," he explained. "What we're trying to do is develop our players, our pitchers and focus on our hitting."

The team went on to win that one 14-4 against the Sunridge Twins before beating Airdrie Aces on May 25.

At the core of the 12-player team is a rotation of pitchers that normally stay in for about 45 pitches before being changed out, although that may change during their playoff run.

"We've been very good at trying to develop our pitchers," says Vaillancourt. "I would say we have four excellent pitchers and another two very good pitchers and three okay pitchers and three who are developing. The name of the game is to try and make the guys who are developing into good pictchers, and the good pitchers into very good pitchers and the very good pictchers into excellent pitchers."

The Crush have their last regular season home game on May 30 and wrap up their regular season on the roadd against Foothills 2 on June 4.
