Cochrane RCMP responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 1A west of Highway 22 near Horse Creek Road on June 10.

Cochrane RCMP Sergeant Jeff Campbell says witnesses say an east bound vehicle with three occupants crossed the centre line striking a west bound vehicle with one occupant.

Sgt. Campbell says all three occupants of the east bound vehicle needed to be extricated out of the vehicle.

"The east bound vehicle driver died at the scene and alcohol is believed to be a factor with that driver. The two other occupants of the east bound vehicle have serious injuries."

The west bound driver also suffered serious injuries.

"Stars Air Ambulance is currently on scene and will be transporting one, not sure from which vehicle to the hospital."

Campbell says earlier today RCMP also responded to a call around 5 or 5:30 this morning of a semi that drifted over the centre line east on Highway 1 just west of the Jumping Pound Bridge.

He drifted into the centre meridian and attempted to correct and was unsuccessful putting it on it's side."

Sgt. Campbell says at 10:30 am it was still blocking the west bound lane on Highway 1.

Speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors and Campbell says as of now no charges will be laid.

The driver of the semi was uninjured.

Both highways have since re-opened.
