Do you think the voting age should be lowered from 18 to 16? An independent Liberal Senator is proposing a bill that would do just that.

MP for Banff/Airdrie, Blake Richards is concerned with the proposal for a couple of reasons. Firstly, he feels that "Senators that call themselves independent, have all been appointed by Justin Trudeau. Generally, they are anything but independent, they are Liberal's just not in name. So you wonder if this is just a way for Justin Trudeau to advance an agenda. I don't know, it remains to be seen but if that is what it is, he should bring it forward and take ownership and credit for it instead of asking some senator to do it for him."

Secondly, Richards says those making the proposal better have a good argument to implement the change. Richards says, "At the present time,18 is the drinking age, the age where they transition from high school to whatever they will do next in life, military service. There's a lot of things that would point to 18 and if you are going to make an argument to make a change, it needs to be a pretty good one."

Richards says that people have been providing feedback to his office voicing their opinion on this proposed bill. Many people are concerned and it is not something that should be taken lightly.
