There is a fun new promotional campaign happening in Historic Downtown Cochrane. Cochrane Tourism and Travel Alberta have teamed up to visually demonstrate that local businesses in Cochrane are safely open for business.

“We’ve Got You Covered” is the slogan and entails offering umbrellas (on loan) to ensure that visitors are safe and welcome when they shop in historic downtown Cochrane. Whether you are returning to shop or discovering the downtown for the first time, the umbrellas can be used as you shop to protect you from the sun and rain elements or it also can be used as a way to measure proper social distance. The promotion is working along with the Town of Cochrane’s Open & Safe campaign which emphasizes it is ok to come out to the downtown again.  Just make sure you stay an umbrella length apart.

You can pick up an umbrella in any one of the nine locations in the downtown. Use it while you shop and then leave it at another participating business in the downtown when you are ready to leave.

Karrie Peace, the owner of Poor David’s & Heavenly Outhouse, located in Historic Downtown, says the umbrellas, "Are just a playful way to say we’ve got you covered. We are all practicing lots of safety initiatives. We’ve got had sanitizer in all of the stores. It gets people out to take some pictures and play with the umbrellas.”

Historic downtown businesses are also presenting “Play Late til 8 on Thursdays” where patrons can visit participating shops and have a passport stamped and qualify to win a prize package worth $750!

Locally owned businesses are a vital part of our community and owners are hoping these campaigns will remind residents to shop locally.
