Over 325,000 tests have been processed in Alberta. In the last 24 hours, 7746 tests revealed 30 new cases. There are 386 active cases in the province with 53 people in hospital six of those in ICU. Fortunately, no additional deaths have been reported and 6811 Albertan's have recovered.

Dr Hinshaw says, "We have begun to see a younger demographic testing positive for COVID 19.  Sixty per cent of our currently active cases (386) are under the age of 40 and we are seeing a particular increase in those between 20 and 29. It is important for younger Albertan's to remember, while you may not be at risk for severe outcomes of infection, your actions are critical to protecting those around you that are at higher risk."

As the province begins to enter stage two of the relaunch strategy, Dr Hinshaw says, "It is important for all of us to remember that this virus is not gone. COVID19 is still circulating in our communities and will do so for many months to come."

We must remain vigilant and continue to abide by the health protocol guidelines that have become the new normal.
