Even though we are approaching the end of seniors’ week here in Cochrane, the festivities are not slowing down. Branding Bingo is being put on by the Stockmen's Memorial Foundation and Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) all to bring some fun, prizes, and to celebrate not only seniors’ in Cochrane, but also help educate the public about important brands from around the area.

Scott Grattidge, the Executive Director for the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation explains exactly what Branding Bingo is. "Branding Bingo is just like ordinary bingo except instead of using numbers, we're using historical brands that were either significant in the Cochrane area or significant to Alberta by past ranchers and pioneers”

"This year we had to pivot a bit due to the pandemic and came up with this. So we're doing it in partnership with FCSS and they've come up with some great prizes."

Hard-copy Branding Bingo cards can be found at TWO Pharmacy and you can also reach out to the Stockmen’s Library to receive digital cards that can be printed out.

Starting on June 8 and running through to June 12, listen to 91.5 CochraneNow at 8:15 am and 3:15 pm to hear the brands called out and if you collect enough brands to get a B-I-N-G-O, jump on your phone and call The Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation at 403-932-3782.

Prizes will be awarded to the first person to call in with

  • Line either diagonal, vertical, horizontal or across
  • X (All spaces filled from corner to corner, through Running Iron(Free space))
  • Upright H (All spaces filled in left column, third row, and right column)
  • Outside Square (all outside spaces filled)
  • Blackout (all spaces filled)

While Branding Bingo is geared towards Cochrane’s seniors’, Grattidge laughs and says anyone can play. “We’re not IDing anyone. If someone is an old soul and wants to play then I’m not IDing”
