Bragg Creek's Dylan Holloway is among the 10 finalists for the 2021 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, American college hockey's most prestigious individual award.

Holloway and teammate Cole Caufield have become the first players from the Wisconsin Badgers to be named finalists for the award since 2014. It's also the first time two players from the team have made the shortlist the same season.

Holloway, 19, is in his sophomore year with the Badgers, who play in the NCAA Big 10.

The Edmonton Oiler first-round draft pick notched goals in his first two games of the season before returning to Canada to play for our nation's World Junior team. It took him no time to find his groove once he rejoined the Badgers, going on an eight-game point streak of five goals and 16 assists, including seven consecutive multi-point games.

In February, he accumulated 17 points in eight games and earned Hockey Commissioners' Association National Player of the Month

A 2021 All-Big Ten First Team selection, Holloway tied for fourth in NCAA with 34 points on 11 goals and 23 assists. He's ranked third with a 1.55 points-per-game scoring average.

The Badgers placed second in the season-ending Big 10 Tournament that wrapped up on Mar. 16. The Badgers notched a 4-3 overtime win against the Penn State Nittany Lions before losing to the Minnesota Gophers in the final, 6-4. The Gophers took a commanding 5-1 lead into the third, and the Badgers' comeback fell just short.

Winners of the Hobey Baker award are not chosen for raw skill, stats, or character alone; it's for everything they do.

The award is named for Hobey Baker, who is considered the first American hockey star by the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The award candidates will be cut down to the "Hobey Hat Trick" on Apr. 1, with the winner announced on Apr. 9.
