To brighten spirits, Easter Lilies have been delivered to Cochrane senior homes by the Communities of Alberta Networking for Seniors Assoc. (CAN).

Earlier this week, Cheryl DeMaere Ellis, CAN's southern Alberta area manager, and Heather Williams were in town to deliver the potted plants.

CAN is the organization that wants to ensure seniors know how much they are treasured during important occasions of the year. It is especially known for its Annual Seniors Christmas Wish List program. Other special occasions, like Valentine's Day, are marked, and it provides emergency relief.

Last July, they worked with others to provide a free movie afternoon at the Cochrane Movie House.

The nonprofit organization is currently holding a raffle to help make all of this possible.

Four prizes are being offered, with a top prize of $1,000 cash.

The rest are summer adventures.

"Everyone's been locked up for two years, so we wanted to offer summer getaways from south to north in Alberta," says DeMaere Ellis.

The second prize is an Alberta Beach Getaway that includes two nights of accommodation, a boat tour of Lac Ste. Anne, a fishing trip on the second day, and a dining gift card.

The third is a two-night stay at the Glenmore Inn and Convention Centre in Calgary with dinner, breakfast, zoo tickets, and a $100 gift card.

Fourth is a pass to the Discovery Wildlife Park in Innisfail with a $250 gift card for hotel and gas.

There are 2,500 tickets printed and they cost $5. The draw date is June 25th.

You can purchase yours by contacting DeMaere Ellis at 780-982-6922 or visiting CAN's Facebook page by clicking here.
