Two AAA Elite hockey teams that include Cochrane players have kicked off their regular season, while the AC Avalanche has one remaining exhibition match before its Oct. 31 start date.

On Oct. 17, the AC Avalanche lost their first exhibition game on home ice against the Okotoks Oilers, 3-1. They're in Okotoks this Saturday (Oct. 24) for a rematch.

The Avs season opener is set for Oct. 31 against the Oilers in Okotoks. They return to Totem One the next day for their home opener, also against the Oilers. Game time is 2:45 p.m. 

The Avs call the SLS Family Sports Centre home and includes Cochrane forwards Evan Devost and Gage Sather. Goalie Zach Zahara is from Rocky View County.

Both the U18 Airdrie Bisons and U15 Airdrie Xtreme headed straight into regular season play.

Early in the season, the U18 Airdrie CFR Bisons are 1-2 after their opening series against the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs.

The Bisons took the series opener 4-3 on the road before falling to the Chiefs 10-4 in their home opener, then 6-4 back in Red Deer.

Over the series, Cochrane's Shaw Cathcart had a pair of assists and Alex Bend had one.

The Airdrie Bisons are now on their mandatory break and resume play in a home-and-home series against the Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers on Nov. 6-7.

The Bisons' roster includes Cochrane forwards Alex Bend, Caden Stephenson, while Shaw Cathcart. Ryler Bergman, Jace Moffat, and James Quaide are blueliners.

On their opening weekend, the U15 Airdrie Xtreme got the upper hand on the Okotoks Oilers.

On the road, they tied the Oilers 2-2 in the season opener on Oct. 17, then won game two, 5-4, on home ice.

Cochrane's Reyd Langan and Nathan Sheriffs scored the Xtreme's goals in the opening game, with fellow Cochranite Ty Barry assisting on the Sheriffs goal.

Cochrane's Kaden McCann had three assists in game two.

The third game in the series between the two teams goes this Saturday in Okotoks. On Nov. 8, they start a three-game series against Calgary's Southeast Tigers.

Cochrane players on the Xtreme include goalie Ethan Mann, defenceman Fraser Leonard and forwards Adam Perron, Kadon McCann, Nathan Sherriffs, Reyd Langan and Ty Barry.
