Icy roads could cause issues for drivers today.

Freezing rain is falling over parts of southern Alberta and is expected to move northeastward out of our province by this evening.

Environment Canada warns that even if temperatures are above zero, it still could be cold enough for rain to freeze on some surfaces.

The main precipitation band has moved out of the Calgary area and is headed towards the Foothills region during the middle of the day Tuesday.

Highways, roads, sidewalks and parking lots could become quite slippery.

Extreme caution is being advised.
