Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning with wind chills expected near minus 40 for Wednesday night.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, those who work or exercise outdoors, or those without proper shelter.

Cold-related symptoms include shortness of breath, muscle pain and weakness, chest pain, numbness, and colour change in fingers and toes.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill create an elevated risk of frostbite or hypothermia.
