Old Man Winter has definitely arrived.

Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for our area as well as many other areas throughout the province.

This cold snap is expected to stick around for much of the week for many areas in Alberta.

We're being reminded to watch for cold related symptoms which includes shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

If headed outside it's important to layer up and cover up as frost bite can develop within minutes on exposed skin.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when temperatures or wind chills create an increased risk of frost bite and hypothermia.

Areas also included in the warning are:

  • Mountain View Co. near Olds and Didsbury
