With a number of motorcycle accidents over the past weekend, RCMP are once again reminding both bikers and drivers to share the road responsibly.

On Saturday (May 5) at approximately 6 pm, a 61-year-old motorcyclist was tragically killed when he attempted to take a curve on Highway 1A near Morley Road.

With the warming weather trend, Constable Kary Moore stresses the importance."Just a reminder that with the warm weather that motorcyclists are out and for other motorists to be aware of them and to just share the road with motorcyclists. For motorbike riders, themselves, just be aware that there's still a lot of gravel on the highways and although streets are being cleaned they aren't completely clean yet, and to just take their time and get where they're going."

Cst Moore also says riding in inclement weather is generally frowned upon. "Not saying any of those factors were in involved in this past fatal collision this weekend, that one is still under investigation.

One last reminder from Moore; whether you are driving a vehicle or motorcycle make sure you only pass when it is safe to do so.
