Many adults see a chiropractor for their back and neck problems, but what about babies?

Babies and kids can become misaligned, as well as adults, causing interference in the nerve pathways to the brain, and preventing the body's ability to heal and regulate properly.

Dr. Amanda Tulk, Chiropractor at West Valley Chiropractic Centre, says most often parents bring their babies in because they have colic and won’t stop crying.

“There’s no pathology or medical reason for their baby to be crying or hurting so they say your baby’s got colic. Well, it could be that the baby is misaligned and it’s uncomfortable.”

Quite often being born causes that misalignment.

“Even the most textbook delivery can have complications. There’s a lot of pressure, there’s a lot of strain during a birth process that can misalign a spine.”

Learning to sit, stand and walk, even falling can cause misalignment preventing proper function.

If you are worried a chiropractor will crack your baby Dr. Tulk says she uses an activator which delivers a little impulse and she can adjust the pressure to be just the right amount for babies.

“That works amazing because it really isolates the area to be adjusted and then delivers that little tiny tap to restore movement and then free up that nerve flow.”

Dr. Tulk will be at the Parent Link Centre on December 12 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in the Baby Steps Class to talk and answer questions.
