First place in the Rocky View Sports senior boys basketball regular season comes down to a final game between the Cochrane High Cobras and Chestermere Lakers.

The Cobras took control in the second half of their 101-74 win over the George McDougall Mustangs, Feb. 12, to remain undefeated. With the Lakers also remaining undefeated, anticipation builds as to who will win their Feb. 26 game in Chestermere.

Whoever claims first gets a bye from the quarterfinals and will host a semifinal game on Mar. 5. The second-place team takes to the court on Mar. 3.

Among those curious is Cobras coach Patrick Court. The two teams haven't met this season, even in tournament play, nor has Court seen the Lakers in action.

Against the Mustangs, the Cobras led by a slim six-point margin after the first half before opening up a 20-point lead by the end of the third. That became 26 points by the sound of the final buzzer.

The Cobras honoured their graduating players in their last regular-season home game, a long-standing tradition of the team.

Honoured were Josh McLellan, Logan Higginson, Cole Higginson, Cody Wunder, Travis Janzen. and Jack Smilski.
