Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for killing an antlerless mule deer in the Ghost Public Land-Use Zone.

Late this afternoon, Fish and Wildlife reached out to the public through its social media in hopes of solving the case from late August.

On Aug. 29, Cochrane Fish and Wildlife officers received a report of an antlerless mule deer shot and left in the TransAlta Rd. area of WMU 412, located in the Ghost Public Land Use Zone approximately 45 kms northwest of Cochrane.

Officers believe the antlerless mule deer was shot with archery equipment between Aug. 27 and Aug. 28

There is no season to harvest antlerless mule deer in this WMU, and no meat was retrieved from the deer, they explain.

Fish and Wildlife officers have found numerous carcasses of wildlife shot and left in the area along Transalta, Richardson and Jamieson Road over the past two years, including a cougar that was killed in February 2018.

Anyone with information pertaining to these or any other wildlife violations can contact the Report-a-Poacher at 1-800-642-3800. You can remain anonymous and if the information leads to charges being laid, you may receive a financial reward of up to $2,000.
