The countdown has begun for Footstock 2022.

Registration opens on Feb. 15 for what is hoped to mark the return to an in-person event.

"We are super excited," says Meredith McMorran, chair of the board of race directors. "I know the last couple of days there have been announcements on easing of restrictions, and I just hope that everything continues to go in the right direction for that because it will mean good things for our event."

There are 5k, 10k, and 18k races, and it will mark the return of the ever-popular Kids' Triathlon. Last year, the kids' event had to be converted to a duathlon when the pool couldn't be used.

"Again fingers crossed, we hope to hold an in-person kids' triathlon, which has over the years been our most popular event."

While the 18k can be run solo, there's the 2nd annual Corporate/Family & Friends Challenge for teams of three. The race is divided into lengths of 10k, 5k, and 3k.

It was a Garmin team that won the challenge in its inaugural year.

"We'd loved to see another community group take the trophy this year, not to discourage Garmin, but just to spread the love a little bit."

Footstock went virtual last year and had a stronger response than anticipated by organizers. While optimistic they'll be able to have an in-person event this year, they do have a solid plan 'B.

McMorran says to keep your eyes on social media because there's a possibility of draw prizes for early registrants.
