COVID-19 cases across the province continued a downward trend over May long weekend.

That's encouraging news as most Kindergarten to Grade 12 students return to their classrooms today after a three-week shift to online learning.

Alberta reported 452 new COVID-19 cases on Monday; a significant decline compared to the daily numbers of over 1,700 when 'stop the spike' measures were announced on May 4.

There are currently 569 Albertans in hospital, including 161 in ICU and the province saw seven more deaths due to COVID-19 yesterday.

After months of reporting numbers over 100, Cochrane's case count has once again fallen to the double digits, with 78 active cases, and Rocky View County is reporting 166.

Sadly, over the Victoria Day weekend, another Rocky View County resident passed away due to COVID-19, bringing the death toll in the county to six overall.
