What an af-fore-able way to kick off the summer break for students.

If you're 16 or younger, you can give golfing a try or brush up on your game at the premiere Links of GlenEagles golf course during Take a Kid to the Course Week. Until July 10, youth can golf free of charge when they're accompanied by an adult.

General manager Slade King says GlenEagles has participating in the special youth offering for about 10 years and it initially started as a one-day event and in recent years has been expanded to a full week.

"It's a way to get families out playing and introduce the kids to the game," explains King. "Or if they already play it gives them a opportunity to try a different golf courses. We have one of the more expensive green fees around, so it's a chance for them to play a really great golf course for a good price."

Tee times can be booked any time of the day until Thursday. From Friday to Sunday, bookings are available after 2:30 p.m. Plus there's no limit to how often you play.

"You can play more than once; you can play everyday this week if you want to."

This initiative of the National Golf Course Owners Association was launched in 2002 and over 660 select courses across the country are participating, the most ever. It's always held the first week of July at GlenEagles.
