If you have any personal papers kicking around and don't want to leave a paper trail, you'll soon be able to 'Shred It' at the Cochrane Eco Centre.

Fabrizio Bertolo is the Manager of Waste and Recycling with the Town of Cochrane and he says that the Cochrane Eco Centre will be hosting a shredding event later this month.

"This is a program that we've been offering to the community for a number of years," says Bertolo. "Next week is Waste Reduction Week and so on Saturday, October 24 we're going to be just outside the Eco Centre at the cul de sac by the Eco Centre with a big shredding truck."

The community shredding event is open to all residents and businesses in the Cochrane area, however, Bertolo says that there will be a cap on the amount that each household can bring along for shredding.

"Anyone living in Cochrane can come down," says Bertolo. "With a maximum of three bankers boxes full of paper to be shredded. If you have any private documents that you don't want to go around and you want to destroy it, you can take it down there to the Eco Centre."

The event is free of charge, but as always, the Eco Centre will be collecting monetary donations for a local charity. Bertolo says that this year's donations will help support the Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area.

"We will ask residents to come down with a donation, a monetary donation," says Bertolo. This year we're going to help  Helping Hands. This is a fantastic non-profit association here in Cochrane and they do a great job for our community and helping residents."

The 'Shred It' event is taking place at the cul de sac next to the  Cochrane Eco Centre located at 50 Griffin Industrial Point on October 24 from 10 am to 2 pm.
