The COVID 19 numbers update for today saw another 1,980 new cases with a positivity rate of 11.5 per cent.

The total number of active cases in the province is 24,860.

There are 659 people in the hospital, an increase of four while there are four more people in ICU bringing the total to 150.

Sadly, four more deaths have been reported bringing that total to 2,106.

To date, 33.1 per cent of the province's population have received one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 6.8 per cent of Albertans are fully immunized.

Cochrane has added two more cases for a total of 213 active cases, and Rocky View County dropped five cases to 278.

On May 10, the vaccine rollout will expand to all Albertans ages 12 and older to be eligible to book an appointment to be vaccinated. 

Monday will also mark the first full week of increased health restrictions in an attempt to "Stop the Spike" of rising COVID-19 cases in the province.
