Celebrating agriculture is going to result in a whole lot of family fun.

The inaugural Aggie Day Mountain View is being held at the Big Red Barn in Cremona on May 14. It's free to attend and packed full of activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting with a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m.

"There's no charge," says Mountain View Deputy Reeve Greg Harris, who is one of the architects of the event. "Just come out, enjoy and participate and hopefully we can get out as many people as possible to not only learn about agriculture but to celebrate it."

"We're going to have lots of demonstrations, too numerous to mention, antique tractors, live animals, wagon rides, all sorts of things for kids, and all sorts of things for adults who want to learn or just connect with other aspects of the agricultural world," says Harris.

Special exhibitors include Olds College and the University of Calgary School of Veterinary Medicine, and both the Stockmen's Memorial Foundation and the Cochrane Roping Club are participating.

There's also a country music concert featuring Dustin Farr, stock dog competitions, rope making, roping, and a tractor rodeo

This event is wheelchair accessible.

The Big Red Barn is on Hwy. 580 and is less than 3 km east of the Cremona turnoff from Hwy. 22

Organizers are asking for participants to grab a free ticket online here to help them get a feel for the number of people attending.
