A prime property owned by Rocky View County (RVC) near the Bow River requires further environmental study before it can be put on the market.

Yesterday, the RVC council approved additional expenditures to complete the additional investigation.

Previous to this, the council direct administration to dispose of the 30-acre property on land south of the Greyston development near the Bow River that is accessible from River Ave.

Data from a preliminary environmental study suggested potential contamination on the land needed to be closely examined.

An additional environmental study will also be completed on the Airdrie Operations Centre that the county wishes to sell. The work for both is estimated to cost $70,000 more than the original budget. The initial report for the two properties wasn't available in time to include in the 2021 budget. The funds will be taken from the county's tax stabilization reserve.
