The Cochrane Generals plugged a three-game losing streak with a 9-4 win over the Rocky Rams on Dec. 4, but not without lifting the Sylvan Lake Wranglers into a tie for first place.

Friday night, the Red Deer Vipers scored three unanswered goals in the third to beat the Gens at home, 6-3.

That was the third straight loss for the Gens, two of them at home, after dropping games to the Mountainview Colts and Sylvan Lake Wranglers the weekend before.

The Wranglers and Gens may be tied, but Sylvan Lake has the advantage with two games in hand.

The Gens have a rematch with the Red Deer Vipers on Sunday night at the Servus Arena. It's a make-up game for when the ice failed in Red Deer earlier this season.

Cochrane heads into its second three-game weekend of the season on Dec. 17 that kicks off with a road game in Sylvan Lake. Gens fans see the team back in town to play the Rocky Rams on Dec. 18, and the Red Deer Vipers the following afternoon. They will be their final three games before the Christmas break.

The Gens may have lost on Friday night, but the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank was a big winner. The return of the club's food bank game saw fans make generation donations of nonperishable food.
