The Cochrane Generals had an amazing run but the streak is over.

The boys were feeling pretty good on Friday after beating the Strathmore Wheatland Kings 5-1 but on Saturday, things didn't go their way.

The Generals finished the first period against the Coaldale Copperheads, tied 2-2 but the Copperheads quickly pulled ahead in the second, ending the game 9-3.

Though this was their first loss of the season, the Generals set a new franchise record for the longest undefeated streak of 11 games.

Dan Gendur, Cochrane Generals, Head Coach, says part of their exceptional winning streak was attributed to a couple of factors.

"We had most of our team back from last year from when we lost in game six of the league finals and so I knew we would be off to a good start but in saying that I know a winning streak doesn't happen without some hard work by the players and since day one of me taking over they have been buying into some new systems and working extremely hard."

The team is still in the top spot in the Heritage Junior Hockey League with 22 points.

Looking to get back on track, the Generals will be back on the ice on Friday, October 21 against the Mountainview Colts.
