It's happening again!

Cochrane Toyota & Prairie Toyota Dealers have teamed up to offer another drive-in movie this weekend.

This time, it'll be held in the parking lot of the Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Hundreds of people came out to watch Onward and Back to the Future this summer in Cochrane.

Sheldon Lachambre with Toyota says these drive-in movies give you the chance to have a COVID-friendly night out with friends and family.

"We decided to do something different across the western provinces that we have dealerships in. So we launched a 24 city Reels on Wheels drive-in movie experience, all with the intention of raising money for local charities."

It will look very similar to the two events that were held in the parking lot of Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre in June and July.

"It's kind of a big, inflatable drive-in movie screen that's set up and it's pretty big. It's one of the bigger ones that you can get in Western Canada. We've been using that screen across the tour. We used it in Cochrane for our two events we ran through the Young Professional Rotary Club, we're doing the same type of set up out at Stoney Nakoda."

Lachambre says this event is in support of the Iyahrhe Nakoda Food Bank Society.

"It's intended to be a by-donation, monetary donation only. So the minimum donation is actually only $1, the suggested donation is $20. But we're asking people to only donate if they can, given the circumstances of COVID and everything, knowing that all of the money will go towards the local food banks in Stoney Nakoda and Morley."

They will be showing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on the four-storey drive-in movie screen.

"We're set for about 130-140 vehicles. Socially distanced, we have to follow the COVID rules and everything, so it's a good family-friendly event that still follows the safe COVID rules."

To keep the event safe, you are encouraged to bring your own popcorn and pop.

"There's no concessions on-site just due to COVID restrictions. However, obviously the casino will be open for different concessions if you want to get them there. Our team does hand out a little treat when people arrive, but we won't have concessions on-site. So we do ask people to be mindful of that and bring their own snacks, if possible."

The gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 8:30 p.m.

You must have a ticket to attend the movie as capacity is limited.
