2020 has been a rollercoaster of a ride. It's been a year of adapting over and over again and a true test of our resiliency.

While this unprecedented year has thrown several challenges our way, I am continually amazed by Cochranites' ability to rise, support one another and do the right thing.

I, like many Cochranites, braved the cold weather yesterday to try and make a dent in my Christmas shopping. With stores moving to 15 per cent capacity yesterday, I spent a little bit of time waiting outside some of the shops with other cold and courteous Cochranites.

The usual holiday hustle and bustle seemed to be much more subdued and civilized. Masked shoppers seemed to be moving at a slower pace, they were giving each other ample space to roam and although I couldn't exactly see the smiles under their face masks, I believe they were still there.

When I  returned home and unloaded my car, I noticed one of my purchases was missing! I was in such a hurry to unload my cart and escape the cold that I returned my shopping cart with one of the main Christmas presents still in it.

Feeling frustrated and deflated, I called the local store... but truthfully I was expecting that my purchase was already discovered and snatched up.

Well, not only was I pleasantly wrong but my faith in humanity was completely restored! A shopper found the item in the cart outside and turned it in!

Thank you! ... Thank you! I am so incredibly grateful to the good samaritan that not only spared me from a disappointing loss but also reminded me how lucky we are to be surrounded by good, honest people here in Cochrane.
