Following the successful first "Movie Under The Stars", Cochranites will be able to experience another drive-in movie this Canada Day. The movie will be presented in the parking lot of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre and is spearheaded by The Young Professional Rotary Club of Cochrane in association with several sponsors. While the event is free, all those attending are encouraged to bring food and cash donations for The Cochrane Food Bank.

Club president, Ryan Baum says that they are excited to continue to grow on the foundation that the first event laid down “We'll just be tweaking a couple of things, like for example the COVID regulations have kind of released a little bit for us. We're going to allow people to get in and out of your vehicle a little bit instead of being forced to be in. We'll have some bathroom facilities, we'll have some food trucks on-site, and we'll actually even have some live music before the movie so we'll be able to take part in some of those still following the COVID guidelines, but we'll be able to have a little bit more excitement around the show just versus a, you know, pull up, watch a show and leave kind of situation.”

“We're very excited. It's gonna be a little bit bigger and a little bit more exciting, and a little bit more fun than the last time. So that's what you hope from any event that you get to do it a second time.”

Free tickets for this event will be available starting at 10 am on Friday, June 26, 2020, at Cochrane Toyota (8 River Heights Dr). The tickets are only available for in-person pickup to help ensure that Cochranites get the first chance to snag a pass and if it is anything like the first event, the tickets will go fast.

Baum wants everyone to know that even though the tickets are free, the purpose of the event is to make sure that the Cochrane Food bank’s shelves stay stocked. “Thanks to our generous sponsors, the tickets are going to be free of charge.  However, knowing this event is all in efforts to support our local Foodbank, we are encouraging donations. Food and Financial Donations will be accepted. And to help drive the cash donations, for all Cash Donations made at the event or GoFundMe during the event, you will be entered to win some prizes including things like a Garmin GPS Smart Watch.”

The film being shown is the 1985 classic, Back to the Future.

“It's the 35th anniversary of Back to the Future so why not celebrate Canada Day with a movie and celebrate its 35th anniversary. We have a gentleman that's coming in with a DeLorean, so he'll be there, Doc, you know he'll be all dressed up and ready to go.”
