There was nothing but smiles from onlookers as more than 50 vibrant, musical and brightly coloured participants made their way through historic downtown Cochrane for the 54th Annual Cochrane Labour Day parade yesterday.

"We were thrilled. A couple people said that they think it was the most people spectator-wise who have been out for years, which was really exciting." says Kailey Mitchell, of Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES).

"From the float perspective we had a great turnout and we also really enjoyed seeing a lot more of the floats are now incorporating their kids into them as well, so there was a lot of people in the parade as well. The amount of participants just seemed to kind of grow."

Awards will be presented to participants in seven different categories later today.
