The Bow Valley Grizzlies men's team is now 7-1 after Saturday's 47-13 win over the Calgary Canucks at Mitford Park.

The Canucks came within reach late in the match but their hopes were quickly dashed when the Grizz scored four tries in the last five minutes of play.

In what's the first regular season since the pandemic, the Grizz are playing Division 3 and are leading the pack in a tightly-contested division.

"It's been going well," says head coach Tyler Hawes. "We have a lot of new faces and a lot of old faces, so people are starting to come back out and wanting to do things after the COVID."

This was their first match against the Canucks this season. The Canucks are 4-3 on their season, and fourth in the standings.

Division 3 is broken into two pools, rural and city. The Grizz play their rural opponents twice and Calgary teams once.

The only loss of the Grizz came at the hands of the Banff Bears.

"It was a tight game that we lost by three points, so we've been in every game we've played. They've all been winnable," says Hawes.

The Grizzly Bear Cup has been created this season to add a little fuel to the fire against the Bears. With the series split, the Grizz won the cup based upon the aggregate score
