The Bow Valley Grizzlies are have clinched the Calgary Rugby Union Division 2 regular season title, after 37-13 blowout on Saturday Sept. 10, against the Calgary Canucks.

The Grizz now head into the first round of playoffs, facing off against the Canucks again in a sudden death match this Saturday, Sept. 17.

Bow Valley Grizzlies coach Tyler Hawes says finishing the season first in the standings with a 10-2 record has given the team a confidence boost.

"It was good for the boys, they're pretty excited to finish top of the table," he says. "The boys are feeling good, we'll see how they perform, we had a really good training session yesterday, and hopefully another on Thursday. They've been playing really good rugby, if they play the way they can they'll be tough to beat."

The Grizz made playoffs last year, but were defeated in the Semi-finals by the Calgary Hornets.

The match kicks off at 6 p.m. at Mitford Ponds.

"Hopefully we get a good crowd out, it should be exciting rugby."
