Southbow Landing is back on the table and groundbreaking is anticipated in the fall of 2023 with the first phase of construction to follow.

Today, Qualico Communities Calgary announced the purchase of Southbow Landing, a 545-acre master-planned community that includes residential, large future commercial centre, and significant green spaces throughout.

At full build-out, its neighborhood plan projects a population of between 7,300 and 9,000 people in a blend of single, duplex, and multi-housing properties.

The area is bounded by Hwy. 22 on the west, The Willows of River Heights neighbourhood, the Riversong neighbourhood, and the Green Drop Aggregates gravel extraction operation and vacant lands to the north, and the Bow River to the east.

According to a news release, Qualico Communities will be following through on that previously approved neighbourhood plan which was approved by town council in the fall of 2015.

“We are thrilled to be launching this new community in Cochrane," states Cary Kienitz, general manager, acquisitions and developments for Qualico Communities, in the news release. "It is going to have some really unique elements that haven’t been done in other communities."

Southbow Landing is anticipated to be developed in approximately 15 phases, and will include three future school sites, over 5 km of pathways, four parks, and extensive environmental reserve areas. Its central commercial area will be the largest on the south side of Cochrane.
