A coalition of Alberta researchers, former regulators, farmers, and landowners impacted by ageing and orphaned wells is taking the province to task for what it calls a double standard.

Former Liberal MLA Dr. David Swann says he won't pay provincial taxes to protest the government's double standard on unpaid taxes and rent to landowners.

Swann and fellow Alberta Liabilities Disclosure Project members will hold a media availability Wednesday morning.

They want the province to hold oil and gas companies accountable for refusing to pay their rural property taxes.

They will also demand Premier Kenney to end further tax bailouts for the industry.

The group says its been impacted by ageing and orphaned wells leaking toxic waste and contaminating waterways, farm fields, and rural towns across the province.
