If you were to take a drive around Cochrane on the weekends, you would see lines of cars waiting for their drive-thru pickups of plants, seeds, and landscaping supplies at several different stores around town. Stores are reporting record-breaking sales of seeds of all kinds, and I jumped on the hype train.

With two toddlers at home, any project to keep them busy for just a little bit is a Godsend so I thought we should start a garden from scratch. Armed with zero knowledge and a couple of dollars, I headed down to the store on the mission. My kids stayed home with my wife (of course) and I headed to the rack of seeds. Over video chat, my kids got to pick two satchels of seeds each, here is what we ended with..

Do these plants grow in our climate? Will we have a jack-o-lantern by October? We are going to find out!

We are about six weeks deep into the growth of our garden and we have moved them from their little pots to these big planters outside unless it starts to snow in which they then move back inside for the evening.

Are you an amateur gardener who is just starting out on a whim like me? Or maybe you are a masterful guru of the garden and you can help me make sure I don’t crush my kid’s dreams by killing these poor plants! Either way, send me some tips or some pics of your garden here.
