The Halloween spirit is rolls into Cochrane this weekend.

The Heritage Hills Community Association is hosting a spooktacular event at the Clubhouse Activity Centre starting tomorrow afternoon.

The area will be transformed to feature two haunted houses. “There's going to be a not-so-scary side and then a scary side for people who really want to be scared” explains Mark Haynes, one of the organizers of the event.

“We're not going to jump out and grab people and touch them. I don't want to really terrify people, but maybe it's the beginning of something and we do it every year. It can be a thing here in Cochrane.”

The ghostly good times start at 2 p.m. for Heritage Hills residents with the event being free.  From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the haunted house will open to all of Cochrane for a small donation.

“My wife and I are gonna stick around and hopefully some of the other people that are helping out and put it on for the rest of Cochrane. All we're asking is a $2 donation per person so that we can help cover the cost.”

Along with the two haunted houses, the event will feature Halloween treats, a costume contest for kids, and maybe a surprise or two.

“I managed to pick up an old wooden school child school desk. I just was at home before I came down here working on the haunted toy box.”
