Alberta's farmers should get a boost from craft breweries.

The provincial budget includes $25 million for the small brewery development fund, something that's caught on quite well according to agriculture minister Oneil Carlier.

Carlier says the program lets brewers know what's out there.

"More than anything it really highlights the good products we have here," he says. "Our malted barley is valued across the world from Europe to Japan, so it highlights those good products here as well, not just internationally."

He says many consumers want to know where the ingredients come from in the foods they eat and this allows that to happen.
