According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, high levels of air pollution have developed for our region.

This has prompted a special air quality statement to be issued.

The hot and sunny conditions we're experiencing have resulted in increasing ground-level ozone concentrations in the above regions.

High-risk air quality values are expected to stick around for the next few hours.

Residents may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, headaches, shortness of breath, or throat irritation.

Those with cardiovascular or lung disease, or children and seniors are most at risk.

Areas with poor air quality include Cochrane, Airdrie, Olds, and Sundre.
