A hiker has passed away after losing his footing on a patch of ice and snow, and falling on Mount Temple on Saturday according to the RCMP.

Shortly before noon on July, 9th emergency services responded to call about the an adult male who was with an experienced group of hikers that had slipped and fell from Mount Temple.

With the help of a Parks Canada helicopter, the man was eventually located approximately 3,300 feet from the point where the initial fall occurred. 

Unfortunately, the man passed away due to the injuries he sustained.

No further updates are expected on the tragedy.
