Once again, Cochrane Home Treasures has donated a large sum of money to help a community organization.

A cheque for $20,000 was presented to the Friends of Glenbow Education Society to support their fundraising effort for a new all-inclusive playground at Glenbow School.

This is a recent example of the good Home Treasures does for Cochrane and area. In 2022, the non-profit organization put back $142,195 into the community.

Since its inception in 2002, Cochrane Home Treasures has continued to evolve to help residents in the community. With the hard work of volunteers, Home Treasures uses donations to provide families in need with necessary household items while also helping to remove a large portion of secondhand goods out of the waste stream in our community. It is an excellent example of reusing and recycling.

Cochrane Home Treasures Manager Caley Breeze explains what her organization is, “Home Treasures is a not-for-profit thrift store. We rely on the donation of the community of furniture and home goods that we resell back to the community. With our profits, we are able to put them back into all local charities and initiatives within Cochrane.”

The mission of Home Treasures is that everybody deserves the nice and the necessary and in light of the tough economic times, Breeze says they are working on something a little different. “We wanted to figure out some ways that we could give back to the community that was a little bit different than what we have done.” There are two upcoming projects that fall under the “nice” category. Breeze says, “The first one is going to be some free movie nights and the second thing is going to be some free swimming.”

There will be more information on the events soon.

In the meantime, Breeze says they are keeping busy and are always looking for donations or volunteers so they can continue to do what they do best, support the community of Cochrane.

Cochrane Home Treasures is located at #2 208 5th Ave and is open Monday to Saturday and Thursday evenings.
