Learning how to manage high-conflict situations and personalities is a life skill. The majority of us have encountered a difficult personality at some time or another; whether it be in our personal or professional life. It's how we deal and choose to interact in those difficult situations that will ultimately make or break us.

Cyndi Morin is the owner of Resolve Legal Group and she has partnered up with Agnew Insurance and the University of Calgary to sponsor a workshop with internationally recognized conflict resolution expert Bill Eddy.

The event - 'Managing Conflict with a High-Conflict Personality ' is taking place on November 5. Morin says that the workshop is ideal for any parent or professional dealing with high conflict situations.

"It's ideal for parents who are separated but have to co-parent and maybe one has a more difficult personality than the other," explains Morin. "It's also for professionals, so anybody that works in social work, family law, any judges in family or police enforcement."

As a family lawyer whose practice is focused on high conflict files, Morin says that she has found Bill Eddy's workshops to be invaluable, but also adds that everyone could benefit from gaining these life skills.

"We all have people that push our buttons and trigger us in different ways," explains Morin. "What Billy Eddy does is he teaches us about the different types of  high conflict personalities that you're likely to encounter and how to deal with them."

She says that Eddy's workshop will give participants an insight into his high conflict personality theory.

All net proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Calgary Counselling Centre and Sagesse; organizations that help families in or at risk of domestic violence.

Morin says that participants can choose to attend in-person or virtually. Due to the provincial COVID restrictions in place, she says that there is a limited number of in-person tickets available.

"Forty-five people maximum is what we can get into Murray Fraser Hall which is the faculty of Law at the University of Calgary," explains Morin. "It's a big theatre so there's lots of room to spread out, but we don't want more than 45 people, just for safety reasons."

This workshop is taking place on November 5, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. and you can purchase your tickets here.
