A Calgary hiker who went missing in the Sandy McNabb area has been found deceased.

Stanley Stooshinoff, 68, was reported missing on May 19 after leaving for a hiking trip in the Turner Valley/Sheep River Provincial Park area.

Police, Alberta Parks, and search and rescue personnel searched for several days and found his vehicle near the campground but were unsuccessful in locating Stanley.

Members from Cochrane Search and Rescue joined in the search efforts.

Last Wednesday, hunters in the area located human remains.

According to Calgary Police, the office of the chief medical examiner confirmed that they were the remains of Stooshinoff.

They say his death is not considered suspicious.
