It's hard to drive down the street without seeing one.

Like it or not, pickup trucks are Alberta's unofficial-official vehicle.

A columnist in Toronto recently suggested that it is time to ban the sale of pickup trucks for personal use and called the vehicle a plague on city streets.

As the topic of climate change increases, some environmentalists question whether people need to be driving these vehicles outside of work.

Not surprisingly this has a lot of people up in arms.

Many Albertans are saying that driving a truck makes sense and is necessary in Alberta with our winter weather.

Also, there's a lot of outdoor enthusiasts in Alberta who camp and haul boats and ATV's around. Many times, trucks are required to do that.

Even Premier Jason Kenney piped in this week and changed his Twitter profile picture to a photo of himself in a truck.

What are your thoughts? Should trucks be banned for personal use or is this columnist out of touch?
