Will the provincial budget include funding for the Hwy. 1A-22 interchange?

That question will be top of mind for Cochranites when the provincial budget is tabled today shortly after 3 p.m.

Mayor Jeff Genung and the town administration will be keenly listening to what's in store for Cochrane in the first budget of the Kenney administration. While the interchange is top of mind, Genung says they will also be digesting the wider implications of the budget.

"What did it say? How does it impact us? What are we going to feel from this? The big question will be, is the 1A-22 budget in there?"

Meanwhile, a draft of the town budget is being tabled on Oct. 28.

"We are mandated to have one approved and in place by January so we couldn't wait," explains Genung. "We've had to make some assumptions and predictions on what may or may not be in this budget."

"We will have ours presented as draft and then make some changes, if necessary."

Genung is knocking on wood that perhaps some of the items the town has been lobbying for extensively will be in the budget.

"If we get them, then we 'll have to reorganize and hit the streets again, maybe on a different topic."
