Election day has finally arrived!

Today, Cochranites will be casting their ballots and choosing local representatives for the next four years.

On the ballot, Eligible voters will cast their votes for six Town of Cochrane Councillors, a School Trustee for either the Calgary Catholic School Division or the Rocky View School Division, three Senate appointments as well as two referendum questions.

Here in Cochrane voting stations open up at 7 a.m. and Cochrane voters can head to their designated polling station up until 8 p.m. 

To vote, you must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen and you'll need to prove your identity as well as Cochrane street address. 

Accepted forms of ID are:

  • One piece of Government-issued ID displaying your name and current address
  • Two pieces of ID; BOTH containing your full name and one of which shows your current address.

Those who voted at one of the four advance polls were given options on where to cast their ballots. That's not the case today. Eligible voters must vote at the polling station assigned to their home address.

  • Sunset Ridge: Cochrane RancheHouse
  • Glenbow: Frank Wills Memorial Hall
  • Towers Trail: Cochrane Alliance Church

For health and safety at the polls, COVID-19 measures are in place. Polling stations are required to follow the mandatory mask and social distancing requirements set by the province and all officers will be masked and sitting behind plexiglass barriers.
