At the young age of 18, Jared LaMontagne is a veteran bowler. He has been bowling since the tender age of 3 when he could pickup a bowling ball. His love for the sport is understandable as his family owns Cochrane Lanes and Jared literally grew up playing and working around the sport.

Jared says that recently he has really started hitting his stride in tournaments. Jared is modest about his latest accomplishments and says, "In the past when I've been to tournaments, I would tend to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack but, in the last three tournaments I've had kind of a dominant streak where I've been getting first. So now, I have qualified for provincials and nationals."

Jared, who had qualified for the Calgary Mixed Team for the Alberta Youth Challenge on January 31 and Feb 1. His team won a silver medal and Jared won the Boys Singles Championship with a 253.75 average over 8 games. He earned a place on the Alberta Provincial Team which will participate in the Youth Challenge National Championship in Gatineau, Quebec on March 25 to 29. He was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for his efforts.

On January 18, Jared participated in the Calgary Youth Series Event #3 and placed 5th to qualify for the playoffs and played 3 match play games scoring 301, 234, and 245 to advance to the finals where he scored 305 to win the tournament.

Congratulations Jared on being chosen Cochrane Toyota and 91.5 Cochrane Now's Athlete of the Month for the month of February and we wish all the best of luck in Gatineau, Quebec!
