Rocky View County Council has appointed Kent Robinson as acting Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

The appointment was prompted by the resignation of CAO Al Hoggan, which came into effective Apr. 13.

Robinson has over 35 years of experience with RVC and currently serves as corporate services executive director.

“With the depth of experience we have in Mr. Robinson, we knew that administration would be in good hands and that there will be continuity in council’s direction for the county.," states RVC Reeve Dan Henn in a news release. "That helps give us the time we need to carefully consider next steps in recruiting a CAO."

Filling the shoes of the county's CAO is not unfamiliar territory for Robinson. He most recently did it in 2018 when county manager Kevin Greig departed. In 2013, he was one of three general managers rotating through the position when Rob Koon resigned

The Municipal Government Act requires all Alberta municipalities to have a CAO, who serves as a council’s sole employee and head of administration.

Council gives its direction to municipal staff through the CAO.
