Do you understand your rights whether you are a tenant or a landlord?

There is a free informative Housing Workshop coming up that you may find helpful if you fall under any of the above categories.

Cochrane FCSS and Service Alberta have teamed up to present a series of online workshops.

The first presentation is called the Landlord and Tenant Workshop which can be accessed online on Wednesday, January 26 from 6:30 to 7:30.

The workshop is all about the Residential Tenancies Act which applies to most people who rent the place where they live. Kristen Immel, Community Liaison & Programmer - Community Wellness with FCSS says, ”The presentation will be reviewing the responsibilities of landlords and tenants issues that arise and remedies that might be available to people when there is a dispute.” Immel says that the workshop will provide the opportunity for participants to ask questions pointing out, “Whoever is participating will have the opportunity to ask specific questions maybe they have something that is happening within their rental situation or something with their landlord and they aren’t sure really what to do they can come to the presentation and ask some questions and hopefully get some answers.”

Immel says this is a great opportunity for residents to ask questions because she says, “What we found here (at FCSS) is it’s quite hard to find someone who is really well versed in these acts and really knows them in detail. So having someone from Service Alberta who this is really something that they do, and they are very familiar with both is quite a good opportunity.”
