Kicking off summer events, the 18th annual Footstock is occurring on June 3 and 4.

The event will once again be held at the Lions rodeo grounds much like last summer with a 5 km, 10 km, duathlon, kids triathlon, and half marathon.

Meredith McMorran, Co-Organizer, says registration for the popular event opened on February 13 and registration has been steady.

“No races have been sold out, we still have room in every race.”

McMorran anticipates the kids race will sell out as usual and is hoping for a good turnout for this year’s half marathon.

“The cap is 400 on the half marathon, that is probably optimistic  but we would love to see as many as possible register.”

Funds raised from Footstock 2016 supported Right to Play, Morley Food Bank, Cochrane Activettes Food Bank, Sports 4 Me 2, Boys and Girls Club Cochrane and Area, as well as Rock the Waves.

This year Footstock is contributing money toward a scholarship for Special Olympian Elouise Stewart who is headed to Austria for the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games where Stewart is competing in cross country skiing.

In order to be successful Footstock requires a variety of volunteers and extra help is always welcome, to register for Footstock 2017 or to volunteer go here.

Footstock is 100% volunteer driven.
